Dr. Douglas Linville received his Orthopedic Surgery Training at the State University of New York in Stony Brook. He trained at Washington University in St. Louis and graduated from his Spine Surgery Fellowship in 1997. He practiced at Wake Forest University before coming to Memphis. He has been at Spine Specialty Center since 2002 providing spine-only surgical care.
Dr. Linville’s expertise is the treatment of adult degenerative spine conditions using minimally invasive techniques: microdiscectomy since 1998, kyphoplasty since 2000, and lumbar fusion since 2005. He continues to help improve these techniques with ongoing research in patient outcomes. Also, he continues to treat conditions of the neck and back with procedures including: cervical total disc replacement, anterior cervical fusion, laminaplasty, foraminotomy, laminectomoy, and fusion.
Dr. Linville also enjoys treating conditions of spinal deformity in adults and children. This was a major focus in his training and continues to be an interest. Scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, and kyphosis are the most common of these problems. Dr. Linville is an active member of the Scoliosis Research Society.
